The Father’s House
of the Treasure Coast [aka The Father’s House TC for short] has deep roots. We were originally founded in 1979 by Norwegian Pastor Arne Dahl who planted three churches in New York before moving to Florida to pioneer his last church at the age of 80 in the home of Tom and Rosemary Smith. Named Calvary Full Gospel Fellowship, the church had its beginnings right here in Jensen Beach (in the very home TFHTC meets today)! One year later in February 1981 he appointed Tom Smith as Senior Pastor, and the church grew steadily under his leadership. Thirteen acres of prime property in St. Lucie West were purchased on which 33,500 sf of buildings were built. In the late 1990’s the church experienced a powerful awakening of God, with hundreds of lives changed and many miraculous healings taking place.
In February 2002, Pastor Tom semi-retired and passed the mantle to his son, David Smith. Several years later, with the ministry in Florida continuing, the call of God was felt by Pastor David and Pastor Tom to plant a new church in the Knoxville, Tennessee area. After leading this work for a season, Pastor Tom recognized the call of God on Liz and Gil, his daughter and son-in-law, and appointed them pastors where they faithfully served for seven years.
With Pastor Tom and Rosemary advancing in years, the Holy Spirit began to stir their hearts with the call of God to return to Florida for two purposes…to be near family and to pioneer “The Father’s House of the Treasure Coast.” This call was powerfully confirmed when God opened the doors for them to purchase the very home Liz lived in when Gil asked her to marry him, and where the ministry had its beginnings over 40 years earlier!
Therefore, TFHTC is not “a new church on the block.” It is a house of God born out of “ancient wells” of one of the most influential ministries of revival on the Treasure Coast. Our rock-solid foundation is built on obedience to God, years of faith, prayer, pure teaching and worship, and a community of dynamic family relationships. Through TFHTC we are called to “rebuild the ancient ruins, raise up the age-old foundations, be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets to dwell in” [Isaiah 58:12 TLV] and continue what was begun by the Spirit of the Lord. But to “rebuild ancient ruins” does not mean going back to what “was” but move ahead to the “territory” which God has given us as an assignment and build toward the future. God is doing a new thing, and we see church “reimagined.” We invite you to come with us to The Father’s House and be a part of the next chapter of this amazing journey!
